Since then it has been produced in small quantities and is considered one of the oldest and most authentic whiskey brands in the United States. The origin of the name “Moonshine” comes from the nickname given to it by the underground whiskey distilleries that sought to avoid excessive tax payments at the time and therefore distilled the whiskey in hiding places outside in the moonlight – the Hebrew translation Moonshine is moonlight. Most associated with the birth and establishment of the American whiskey industry.
